To the Moon and Back

I am so excited to post about this! So a few of my friends who met the children they hoped to adopt in Russia but were stopped because of the ban (like us) have been working on a documentary about the Russian Adoption Ban. Their kids are still in orphanages. It's been 2 1/2-3 years since they last saw them, and the kids remain orphans. It's devastating. Several of them have been transferred from their baby homes to mental institutions. The very thing we were all trying to prevent from happening to these precious children has happened. Yesterday was Dasha's fourth birthday. I cried tears of joy for her several times through the day thinking that it could have been transfer day for her, too. I am beyond grateful that she is in a family now. But what about the kids that haven't been adopted yet? This documentary is for them. The only way anyone will be able to see the entire film is if enough interest is generated. Please watch the trailer on YouTube and share it! It really looks amazing!
They got Miles and Carol Harrison (Chase Harrison, AKA Dima Yakovlev's parents, for whom the adoption ban was named) to speak on the film. How courageous they are! And Bill Browder, the rich businessman whose attorney, Sergei Magnitsky, was killed and sparked congress to pass the Magnitsky Act, is also on the film. Russia responded to the Magnitsky Act by banning Americans from adopting Russian orphans. It looks like a fascinating film. Please support it by sharing and watching on YouTube. It would also be helpful if you'd join the To the Moon and Back Facebook page! Click here to be directed there, then click "like". Thank you for helping do what you can to support the children stuck in Russian orphanages and the would-be parents who love them dearly!
