Orphan Crisis

There is an orphan crisis plaguing our world.  There are more than 163 MILLION orphans around the globe.  If all the orphans formed a country, it would be the tenth largest country in the world.  These are staggering numbers.  One hundred and sixty three million individuals without a family to call their own.  There are many reasons that a child would be abandoned besides the death of a parent.  Most are social orphans. Abandoned because of a variety of reasons.  Lack of proper funds to care for the child, disability or special need of the child, illness or addiction of the parent, etc.
Our family has a heart for those abandoned because of a special need.  Because of that, we traveled to Russia to meet our daughter.  We love her with all our hearts and will love her forever.  The video below is how many disabled Russian orphans are treated. This is why we could never stop fighting for her.

Our hearts were eventually led to a little boy in China.  We are a blessed family.  We have the capacity to add another orphan to our family, so we are.  The same day I saw his picture (which happened to be my birthday), I read this article http://www.guardian.co.uk/books/2013/may/06/chinas-barbaric-one-child-policy.  It's so, so sad.  Our little guy, like Dasha, has Down syndrome. We brought him home in March of 2014 and he's one of the greatest things that's ever happened to our family!
