While the story was great, there were a few errors in it. I want to clarify here quickly! First, we did not find a Canadian family to adopt Dasha so we could adopt her from them. They were adopting her to be their own daughter, not ours :) Also, I disagree with the part of the article about more girls being available for adoption in China. I blogged about that here. The last point I want to clarify is that all four of my kids are my "own" kids. One is not biologically mine, but he is 100% mine. We're so thankful for this story, though! I hope my corrections don't sound critical! Hopefully more people will get on board with adoption!
This morning was Milo's medical appointment. This is a requirement for him to get his US visa. There is another family from our agency in Guangzhou right now on the same timeline as us, so it was really fun to have another couple to go with! We got to the medical clinic and didn't have to wait very long for our kids to get checked over. The only thing they said about Milo was that his throat was red and to give him more water to treat it. Whatev.
After the medical, we went downstairs to a coffee shop to fill out a form for the visa and get all our paperwork in order. Our guide here is awesome! She's got this down to a science! They had a little conference room/office in the coffee shop and we asked if we could meet in there to do our paperwork. The darling guy working behind the counter let us, then kept bringing toys in for the kids. He genuinely seemed excited we were there! After we were all done, he brought in his phone. He had painstakingly typed out a message in English asking if he could take a picture of us to use for advertising purposes. He was so cute! Of course we all posed and smiled for him.
We then went to the grocery store to pick up supplies we needed; more formula, diapers, and wipes. For some reason our wet wipe supply was destroyed last night ;) Once we made it back to the hotel, it was definitely nap time! All three of us took a good, much needed nap! We are so grateful to be back at a Marriott! Executive lounge, baby! Free breakfast and dinner!! The best part of this is not even about the money we save (though that is a DEFINITE plus!!). It's about the convenience! We LOVE not having to stress about finding dinner!
After our delicious dinner, we went for a walk to get our bearings. We sure love it here! It is great to have a change of pace! Our spirits have been lifted thinking that in five short days we'll be reunited with our kids at home. We will be a family of 6! Together so soon! We are so, so close to being done with the adoption process! I can't even believe it! Until then, we have lots to look forward to! We have a half day of sightseeing tomorrow with the other family and our fabulous guide. Monday is our Consulate Appointment and shopping day! Tuesday we get Milo's visa and take the bullet train to Hong Kong. We're going to live it up in China for the next few days, because our time here is almost over! I know I'll miss it here once we're home!
Now what you've all been waiting for. Milo! Words can't even express how much we love this little man! He is an absolute joy! He's always doing something funny. I can't get enough of him! I just drink him in! We love to snuggle in the Ergo together, feed him (he now tries to make eye contact with me while he's eating! Be still my heart!), make faces at each other, and play on the floor.
